Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then depart for a tour the economic capital of South Africa. Get a panoramic view of the city from “the top of Africa” (Carlton Centre). Other interesting places include a traditional herbalist shop, the historical buildings of downtown Johannesburg, the Brixton Tower, the affluent suburb of Houghton, the Supreme Court and the Nelson Mandela bridge, home of South Africa's new Constitutional Court and site of Johannesburg’s Old Fort Prison. Depart early this morning and leave Johannesburg’s distinctive skyline and head for Pretoria, South Africa’s capital city, for a short orientation tour, before continuing to Mpumalanga, dropping several hundred feet into the lush subtropical region of the Lowveld. We travel via the historic towns of Witbank, Dullstroom and Lydenburg, passing over the famous Long Tom Pass onto the small town of Sabie. This afternoon explore living history in the form of Pilgrim’s Rest, the old mining village where gold was first discovered. [B,D]
After breakfast this morning, gasp at the glory that is God’s Window, a boundless view of forested mountains and fertile plains, and visit the spectacular Blyde River Canyon, one of the natural wonders of Africa. We explore the quaint village of Graskop before arriving mid afternoon at our overnight hotel. (B,D)
Set off before breakfast in an open safari vehicle to explore the world famous Kruger National Park. The Kruger National Park in South Africa is one of the oldest and largest reserves in Africa. The park boasts a tremendous variety of game. You should see elephant, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, warthog, lion, spotted hyenas, baboon, hippo, impala, kudu, vervet monkey, waterbuck, Tsessebe, wildebeest, bush baby, mongoose, duiker, steenbok, klipspringer, genet, bats. You may see leopard, wild dog, cheetah, roan antelope, sable antelope, bat-eared fox, rhino, honey badger, porcupine, rebook, aardvark, aardwolf, civet, and caracal. [B,D]
Drive back from Kruger National Park to JNB Airport for departure on your scheduled flight to Cape Town International Airport. Arrive in the Mother City and transfer to your hotel. [B,D]
After breakfast, take Africa's premier tour route to the romantic meeting place of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. Sir Francis Drake the explorer called it "the fairest Cape that we saw in the circumference of the Globe." Today includes Hout Bay, a 30-minute cruise to the seal colony in a glass bottom boat (weather permitting), Cape Point nature reserve, Cape Point, Cape of Good Hope, a stop for lunch at Fish Hoek Galley (on own) - swimming in Indian ocean is possible, a visit with the penguin colony in Simonstown, and a walk through Kirstenbosch botanical gardens. Head back to the hotel in the late afternoon. Freshen up and transfer to a local restaurant for dinner before heading back to the hotel for the night. [B,D]
This morning after breakfast, take a half day city tour of Cape Town and Table Mountain. Discover the spirit of the Mother City, experience her vibrant cultures and history and enjoy botanical scenery. Highlights include: Table Mountain – weather permitting (otherwise Signal Hill), a scenic coastal drive through Clifton & Sea Point, Green Market Square, District Six, a walk through the Company Gardens, a scenic city tour passing the Houses of Parliament, the City Hall, the Castle and Slave lodge. Take a tour of Robben Island. In the afternoon enjoy a Winelands tour with wine tasting. Attend an orientation of Stellenbosch and some free time. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then depart on a private road transfer to the airport for your flight to Victoria Falls via Johannesburg. Arrive at Victoria Falls Airport and transfer to your hotel. Check in to your hotel and depart on a late afternoon sunset cruise. Your evening is free at leisure. [B,D]
Embark on a guided walking tour of famous Victoria Falls. The cascades flow at a rate of 120 million gallons per minute and with their deafening roar make you constantly aware of their physical presence.
