Things from a Laos road trip I will never forget!
It’s a common belief among most travelers that road trips happen in only Western countries. But it’s not true! For that, I will share my experience with you which will leave you speechless. To be honest, before this trip, I barely knew where Laos was on the map. But after my experience, I am amazed! I will just brief the places and the moments which made me speechless.

1. Buddhist Caves of Pak Ou
Buddhist Caves is
Located 25km away from Luang Prabang, the Pak Ou caves are a stop one should
not miss. I had an amazing cultural experience here. We are not Buddhist, but
we could easily connect with people.
2. Try snake/scorpion Whiskey
Snake/scorpion are
soaked in these unique drinks, it’s said they leave their quality in it!. On
the first go, I felt creepily intrigued with this form of art and culture,
Looking at them. But it’s an experience. We don’t get chance everywhere.
3. Try Lao Cuisine
Laos has around 80 -
90% restaurants serving the western meal, As the tourist, are more, also not
everyone is fond of local food. But we were determined to come out from our
comfort zones and try authentic Lao food and honestly, it was a good
experience.
4. King’s former home
King’s former home is
Built-in 1904. This historical building used to be the house the King of Luang
Prabang. Now, it is home to the culture and the arts. This place was converted
into a museum in 1975.

5. Plain of Jars
The Plain of Jars has a mystery that archaeologists are still trying to solve. There are thousands of huge clay jars spread out across more than 90 sites, and we are still wondering why? One of the stories say the jars were made to store alcohol to celebrate victory after the war. But it is not yet proved.
6. Buddha statue
This site is made before the 3 wars. That is the reason UNESCO has announced it a
heritage site. it's indeed an achievement that the Buddha remains strong even till today. The Buddha has survived a Chinese invasion, the Indochina war, and World War 2, though the ancient temple is destroyed at the time of war.
7. Hmong Village
It is not a tourist place, not any heritage site. Somehow I would just blend in the village life. Any place we visit, my personal opinion to live there not just see all popular places and come back. This village is a short drive away from Vang Vieng, We stopped at this local village to explore the local culture.
8. Vang Vieng
Vang Vieng itself is very small, It has many
adventures to the Blue Lagoon and surrounding caves to chase your fear.
9. Laotian market
It’s not amazing I would say. I was a wet, untidy place but it was indeed a fun experience to see how they were selling.

10. Kuang Si Waterfall
This place is incredible! The entire park is filled with shallow pools located all over for you to take a dip in. This place is a must visit. The fall goes through the stairs type of structure with some giant trees, it created a gorgeous sight.
There are some more, but I leave that for you to explore - The last thing I would say is, it does not have to be an amazing destination to make your holiday a memorable one, it is the spirit!
