3 days are more than enough to cover almost everything in Siem Reap. I am writing all important things to do to make your trip easy and smooth.
1. Visit Temples
Siem Reap is full of temples, it has a treasure of ancient history. It seems boring on the first go but It has some wonderful carvings and it also reminds of the grand past.
2. Angkor Wat
This place is very popular for its sunrise. One has to visit at around 4.30 AM to experience this amazing view.
3. Try different food
The tropical fruits and the tasty street food is worth a try in Cambodia. If you are used to having street food, it would not trouble you but if you are a hygiene freak then be careful.
4. Visit a cocktail bar
It is a different experience in Siem Reap. I have traveled almost half the world and the only thing I have concluded is it is the huge difference to experience same food or adventure at 2 different places. The cocktail bar was a good experience.
5. Visit local villages and stay
I personally prefer staying with local and eating with locals. You really can’t feel the culture and tradition from a 5- star resort. You get to sit with them and spend time with them.
6. Shop as much as you can
There are many local markets in Siem Reap to shop. You may not get all branded stuff, but they are worth every penny, I found the markets darn cheap.
7. Visit Phare Circus
Phare Circus is one of the most interesting talents of Cambodians. We, the western people have almost forgotten this creative field as the career option. After watching these Cambodians, you are going to fall in love with this place and people.
8. Koh Ker
Koh Ker is a temple in the Cambodian jungle since 10th-century. It was also a former capital of the Khmer Empire for some duration. It is not in Siem Reap but one day tour can be done.
9. Apsara show, Park Hyatt
The Apsara Dance – sometimes also written as Apsaras Dance, is a classical Khmer dance performance inspired by the water and cloud spirit of Hindu and Buddhist mythology.
10. Phnom Kulen
Phnom Kulen which is also known as Kulen Mountain is Cambodia's one of the most sacred mountain range. It has many waterfalls, jungles, lingas. It is also popular for the largest reclining Buddha.
11. Prasat Bakong
Prasat Bakong is the first sandstone temple-mountain - constructed by rulers of the Khmer empire at Angkor. It is also the favorite site for tourists. It is located on east side of Siem Reap.
12. Psar Chas
Name it and you have it! Yes, Psar Chaa or Psar Chas, is a market in the city of Siem Reap in northern Cambodia. If you are a shopaholic, this is a place for you. Spend the time carefully, you will never realize even if you spend the whole day.
