Wanaka is a popular ski and adventure resort town in New Zealand. Amazing picture perfect views, great scenery, and wonderful climate attract a lot of travelers throughout a year. I honestly don’t want to make a list, a numerical list which is boring to follow. I would list some of my best experiences one by one.

Hike a mountain

Wanaka is completely surrounded by mountains. The most popular by far(which I did), and the one you’ve most probably seen in all the photos, is the view from the top of Mt Roy. The hike that starts from the west side of the lake, which is near the town.

Don’t miss Raspberry Creek

Take a drive out to Raspberry Creek in nearby Mt Aspiring National Park. You can park your car and enjoy the scenic views.

Want to add something adventurous?

If you don’t enjoy peace then You can try a 5km hike to through the forest and visit Rob Roy Glacier.  You can also take the 9km path along the winding West of the Matukituki River and enjoy some unmatched views.

Give a try to Kayaking

Rent kayaks from down near the lakefront or you can also sign up for boat tours provided by locals with Eco Wanaka or Lake Wanaka Cruises. Lake Wanaka is huge and extremely beautiful. Kayakers go to Ruby Island for a half day or so, for their kayaking trip.

Try Bungee Jumping

Get your heart racing by trying the world’s famous Bungee Jumping. New Zealand is an adventure hub, all the world-class adventures can be found here with the highest level of safety.

Skydiving

If you are still not done with the adventure then try the world’s famous Skydiving. Try out the ultimate adrenaline rush and strap yourself to your trainer and jump out of an airplane to try this amazing experience.

Try some snow

This glorious little mountain town really comes alive in winters. Enjoy the snow at one of the awesome ski resorts here that are just a 20-minute drive from the town center.

Amazing Food

New Zealand is not for junk food lovers, you will not be able to find a lot of big international outlets but small restaurants also serves amazing healthy treats. You can try a fantastic Italian feed or enjoy authentic Asian fusion food.
